I have just discovered that Joyfully Reviewed have posted a lovely Review for my Sip, The Wrong Path – a little Snippet:

“I loved this little story Stevie Woods wrote, it’s a magical tale of finding love when its least expected.”

You can read the Review at:

There is also a new Review for my Single Shot, A Million Pinpricks. It doesn’t quite match up to my other Reviews, but I guess you can’t please everyone! A snippet:

“a very quick paced story; the story deals less with the relationship between Taylor and Joel, and more with Taylor’s thoughts on his relationship with Joel.”

You can find it at:

copy-of-pinprickscover.jpgFeeling really good about now. I received notification a few days ago that Coffee Time Romance had posted a Review for my Sci-fi short story, A Million Pinpricks. It’s a lovely review with a rating of 4 cups.

It’s wonderful to know that my work is appreciated, I particularly liked this final paragraph:

This is very sweet read. The emotions that Taylor goes through, reliving his moments with Joel are poignant. They draw the reader deeply into the story. Stevie Woods has managed to capture the depth of emotion that comes with losing a loved one. The story rounds out nicely with a brilliant conclusion. This is a book that should be bought and read many times over.

Editing

Busy weekend. Got the edits back for Cut & Thrust, my anthology story due out in September. Nothing too major thank goodness, still time consuming, but worth it!

Also got infomation that the Proof had been done for A Million Pinpricks (nice to be told the Proofer really enjoyed it!). Just a minor re-write on one paragraph needed – amazing it took me almost as long to rework that as it did to write two pages of my current project. Hopefully, it is fine, the story needs to go for publishing on the 20th!

I have worked with four different editors in the last few weeks and I think I have learned quite a bit. Hopefully my future works will need less effort all round (fingers crossed!)

TorquereThe edits for A Million Pinpricks are done and it’s off for proofing now, in nice time for the publication date at the end of July. I’ve found editing to be more of a co-operative effort than I expected, perhaps I have been lucky with my editors, I don’t know, but it has been a good experience.

Introduction to the work of Stevie Woods

This is my first post! I have an LJ that I use in connection with my publisher’s social group but I wanted to spread my wings a little.

I have only recently had my first professional work published, ‘Smoke Screen’, a short story set in Regency London about the difficulties two gay men encounter when they realise they are more than just friends. I have another short story, ‘A Million Pinpricks’, due to be published at the end of July, this time it is a SciFi story.

My first full length novel, ‘Cane’, is due to be published in August and I am very excited at the prospect. Another historically based story, this one set in the years before the US Civil War involving the world of sugar cane production and slavery.

I cannot thank my publisher, Torquere Press, for their faith in a new writer. I firmly believe the eBooks are the way of the future, though I also believe that print books will never disappear – thank goodness!

If you want to know a little more about my writing, please visit my website:

I hope you enjoy your visits, and perhaps you’ll find something of interest, even if it is only to ask questions!
